Selenium prices fall more than 6%, concerns over Ningxia Tianyuan hit sentiment

Selenium prices continued to fall this week in Europe dropping by more than 6% amid weakening demand and increasing spot availability, market sources told Metal Bulletin.

And worries over demand from Tianyuan Ningxia Manganese Industry Co (Ningxia Tianyuan) - the world's leading manganese flake producer and biggest selenium dioxide consumer - also continued to weigh on sentiment in the selenium market, they added.Metal Bulletin's price assessment for free-market in-warehouse selenium in Europe was $18.5-20 per lb on Wednesday June 21, down from last week's $19-22 per lb.Selenium prices in Europe had been on an upward trend since the beginning of the year on healthy demand from Asia.Selenium...
