Slab import prices in Asia soften again on low demand

Import prices for steel slab in Southeast Asia and East Asia have inched down further for a fourth consecutive week amid sluggish downstream markets.

Fastmarkets MB's weekly import price assessment for slab in Southeast Asia and East Asia was $415-425 per tonne cfr on Monday January 28, narrowing downward by $5 per tonne from a week earlier.A booking involving 25,000 tonnes of slab from a major mill in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was made at $420 per tonne cfr Taiwan early last week.Another cargo was reportedly sold at $410 per tonne cfr to an Asian destination - also likely...
