South America flat-rolled steel import prices mostly lower

Fastmarkets MB assessed the price for South America Galvalume steel coil imports at $705-725 per tonne cfr main ports on Friday June 21, lower compared with previously heard ranges amid the Chinese downturn.

Fastmarkets announced the launch of its South America Galvalume steel coil import price assessment on Wednesday June 19. This assessment will be published on a weekly basis. The aluminium-zinc alloy coated steel coil is mainly used by the construction and automotive industries.Galvalume import prices in the region had been heard at $725-735 per tonne cfr in the previous two weeks, although that price level was not an official assessment. The decrease follows an overall Chinese downtrend; China is the primary supplier of Galvalume to South America.
