Taiwanese scrap import prices lower on increased supply

Import prices for containerized heavy melting scrap (HMS) in Taiwan showed some signs of softening this week on increased supply.

Metal Bulletin's price assessment for imports of United States-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) into Taiwan was $348-360 per tonne cfr for the week ended Friday January 19, widening downward by $2 per tonne from a week earlier.Sellers continued to offer cargoes at $360 per tonne cfr this week, without letting offer prices slip due to continued harsh weather conditions in the US."Judging from the number of offers...
