Pre-opening Comments for Thursday March 29th
U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning. S&P 500 futures were up 9 points in pre-opening trade.
Index futures were virtually unchanged following release of economic news at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus for Weekly Jobless Claims was a dip to 228,000 from revised 227,000 last week. Actual was 215,000. Consensus for February Personal Income was an increase of 0.4% versus a gain of 0.4% in January. Actual was an increase of 0.4%. Consensus for February Personal Spending was an increase of 0.2% versus a gain of 0.2% in January. Actual was an increase of 0.2%.
Constellation Brands added $6.75 to $227.24 after reporting higher than consensus fourth quarter earnings. The company also increased its dividend by 42%.
Dollarama (DOL $155.25 Cdn.) is expected to open higher after reporting higher than consensus quarterly earnings. The company also increased its dividend by 9%.
Starbucks slipped $0.65 to $57.25 after Wedbush downgraded the stock to Neutral from Outperform.
Boeing gained $2.93 to $322.95 after Barclay's upgraded the stock to Overweight.
