U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 28 points at 8:35 AM EST.

S&P 500 futures slipped 5 points following release of economic news at 8:30 AM EST. Consensus for November U.S. Retail Sales was a 0.4% increase versus no change in October. Actual was a 0.6% increase. Excluding auto sales, November Retail Sales were expected to increase 0.4% versus a 0.4% increase in October. Actual was a 0.5% increase. Consensus for the November U.S. Producer Price Index was a 0.3% increase versus a 0.3% increase in October. Actual was a 0.2% increase.

Bank of America added $0.56 to $55.10 after reporting higher than consensus fourth quarter earnings.

Wells Fargo dropped $1.36 to $92.20 after reporting less than consensus fourth quarter earnings.

Palo Alto fell $5.60 to $185.25 on reports that China has ordered domestic companies not to use software made by a number of U.S. companies.
