Tiffany Tells Its Story in China Exhibition

RAPAPORT... Tiffany & Co. will launch an exhibition in Shanghai, China, tocelebrate the greatest jewelry masterpieces it has created over its 180 years. The "Vision & Virtuosity" display, which will run from September 23 to November 10, will followthe history of some of the luxury jeweler's most iconic pieces and moments. "There are many incredible objects in the Tiffany archivesthat we draw inspiration from, and we are constantly finding ways to reinventand reinterpret them for our designs today," Tiffany's chief artistic director,Reed Krakoff, said last month. "With this exhibition, we honor the past, andshow how beauty and masterful craftsmanship are timeless and always relevant." The exhibition will feature several rooms devoted toimportant chapters in Tiffany's history. A room dedicated to diamonds willdisplay the jewelry company's most important stones, from the Gilded Age through to Art Deco and contemporary designs, including the 128.54-carat, fancy-yellowTiffany Diamond. The Tiffany Blue space highlights the color the retailer uses inall its branding, while the World of Tiffany area will cover its representationin popular culture, including its influence in film, television, music andliterature, with a nod to all the influential people who have worn thejeweler's pieces. Other rooms will showcase the company's original 1845 Blue Book,its first US mail-order catalog, the design of the first modern engagementring, and a behind-the-scenes look at the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, includingthe original script with Audrey Hepburn's personal annotations.
