Trump's steel tariffs to have 'serious international knock-ons'

Mining Capital's Alastair Ford discusses plans by US President Donald Trump to introduce tariffs on steel and aluminium imports.

''There's quite a lot of plates spinning in this equation'', Ford says.

''Trump's really playing to his core audience here .. he's got a lot of voters in the industrial heartlands that have suffered from anti-competitive dumping practises from the Chinese''.

''If these tariffs are in place then American domestic consumption will be somewhat shored up''
