US coated steel prices rise, cold-rolled coil steady

Coated steel base prices firmed in the United States this past week due to steady demand, while cold-rolled coil was steady compared with the previous week, market participants said.

Fastmarkets AMM's weekly assessment for the domestic hot-dipped galvanized steel base price moved to $41.50 per cwt ($830 per short ton) on Thursday March 7 from $41 per cwt a week earlier, and the all-in price for galvanized coil with a G90 coating increased to $46.25 per cwt from $45.75 per cwt in the same comparison. Meanwhile, the assessment for US cold-rolled coil was flat week on week at $41.50 per cwt.
