US cold-rolled, coated steel prices unchanged by mill increases

US cold-rolled coil and coated base prices have continued to hover in the $40- to $41-per-hundredweight range, despite domestic mills announcing $2-per-cwt price increases in late January, market participants said.

Fastmarkets AMM's assessments for domestic cold-rolled coil and hot-dipped galvanized base prices stayed flat week on week at $40.50 per cwt ($810 per short ton) and $40 per cwt ($800 per ton), respectively. The steady assessments indicate those products may have reached a temporary floor after months of price erosion.Cold-rolled and coated prices last rose in mid- to late October, when mills most recently announced price increases. Since then, those assessments have declined or moved sideways in Fastmarkets' weekly assessments.
