US stainless sheet prices climb to new high in November

Stainless steel sheet prices in the United States rose in November to their highest since June 2011, with buyers competing for limited available spot tons from the mills and an increasing number of market participants reporting that they no longer have any allocation from the mills.

Fastmarkets' monthly assessment for stainless steel 304 cold-rolled sheet, fob mill US was $192 per hundredweight ($3,840 per short ton) on Wednesday November 10, up by 2.13% from $188 per cwt on October 11 and up by 3.92% from $184.75 per cwt on September 10. This is its highest since the assessment stood at $193.75 per cwt in June 2011.The assessment for stainless steel 304L cold-rolled sheet, fob mill US was $196 per cwt ($3,920 per ton) on Wednesday, up by 3.16% from $190 per cwt on October 11 and up by 4.95% from $186.75 per cwt on September 10.
