Vietnam's HRC import prices dip on weaker demand

Import prices for re-rolling-grade hot-rolled coil sold into Vietnam declined over the past week on softer end-user demand.

Metal Bulletin's assessment of HRC import prices in Southeast Asia - which mainly looks at Chinese 2-3mm SAE1006 HRC and equivalent grades sold into Vietnam - was $600-610 per tonne for the week ended Monday April 9, narrowing downward by $10 per tonne from a week earlier.Market sources said that demand was weak because buyers were not actively sourcing for spot cargoes.
