WJI 2030 Joins Fashion Industry in Promoting Sustainability

(IDEX Online) - Industry bodies representing both the watch and jewelry sector and fashion are joining forces to tackle social and environmental challenges.The Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) and the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI 2030) say their alliance will be initiated at the Global Fashion Summit: Copenhagen Edition 2023 (pictured), on 27-28 June.WJI 2030, founded in Geneva in October 2021 by Kering and Cartier, is guided by the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) with a special emphasis on building climate resilience, preserving resources, and fostering inclusiveness.Iris Van Der Veken, executive director and secretary general, at WJI 2030, said: "Wherever our members are on their sustainability journey, partnerships like these will help them connect, learn, lead, communicate, moving them faster and farther in demonstrating progress on sustainability. "Whatever we learn, over time we will share with the wide industry. SMEs are at the heart of our programs, and this collaboration will help us advance the 2030 agenda and not reinvent the wheel."
