Federal Reserve officials will continue to make the rounds next week, with a Wednesday afternoon appearance by Fed Chair Janet Yellen at the top of the marquee. After Yellen's comments this week that the central bank "may have misjudged the strength of the labor market," all eyes will be on Friday's September jobs report. And, while third-quarter earnings season doesn't kick off until mid-October, a handful of notable names will report this week, including Lennar Corporation (NYSE:LEN) and PepsiCo, Inc. (NYSE:PEP).

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

The week will kick off on Monday, Oct. 2, with the release of the Institute for Supply Management's (ISM) manufacturing index, Markit's purchasing managers manufacturing index (PMI), and construction spending data. Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan is scheduled to speak, and Cal-Maine Foods (CALM) will report earnings.

Tuesday, Oct. 3, will bring the release of motor vehicle sales. Earnings from Lennar (LEN) and Paychex (PAYX) are due.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, the ADP private payrolls report is due, along with the ISM's non-manufacturing index and the weekly crude inventories update. Yellen will speak at 2:15 p.m. ET, while St. Louis Fed President James Bullard will take the stage at 3 p.m. Acuity Brands (AYI), Monsanto (MON), PepsiCo (PEP), and Ruby Tuesday (RT) will step into the earnings confessional.

Weekly jobless claims will be released on Thursday, Oct. 5, along with international trade data and factory orders. San Francisco Fed President John Williams and Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker will step up to the podium during regular trading hours, while Kansas City Fed President Esther George will speak after the close. Constellation Brands (STZ) and Costco (COST) will unveil their quarterly results.

The Labor Department's nonfarm payrolls report will dominate the conversation on Friday Oct. 6, though speeches from Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic, New York Fed President William Dudley, and Kaplan could also draw attention. There are no notable earnings due.
