The Yukon has had a history of being the last jurisdiction to be explored in a cycle and the first to get cut, but recent developments have changed that, said Matthew Turner, president and CEO of Rockhaven Resources.
"In these cycles, it was the last jurisdiction that would get the exploration dollars and the first place that got cut. So what happened was when we really started exploring aggressively, as an industry, in the Yukon, say back in 2008-2009 time, there was a lot of discoveries made just because of that. There have been a lot of projects pushed forward but it's always been basically cut before the big discovery was made," Turner told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Swiss Mining Investment Conference in Zurich.
