Afritin Mining produces first tin concentrates from Uis Namibia mine; signs offtake with Thaisarco

Namibia-based tin mining company Afritin Mining has begun mining in the Erongo district of Namibia, producing its first batch of tin concentrates from its Uis project, while the company also signed a 12-month offtake agreement with Thailand Smelting and Refining Co Ltd (Thaisarco).

The Uis tin mine is situated in the Cape Cross-Uis tin pegmatite belt, an expansive mineralisation zone located in Namibia's mountainous Erongo region. Development of the Uis project began in the fourth quarter of 2017, with procurement and funding of the project taking place across 2018. The mine completed both initial construction and its hot and wet commissioning this year, with preliminary concentrate production precluding the start of an operation ramp-up. Since then, Afritin has secured listing on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), while its 9.5% shareholder, Bushveld Minerals, has further aided in the company's low capex flow sheet, as well as a 35 million Namibian dollar ($2.28 million) working capital facility.
