Alrosa, the world leader in diamond mining in volume, held an international auction for +10.8-carat rough diamonds in New York early this month. The company sold 101 gem-quality diamonds at a total weight of 1,550 carats. The auction netted Alrosa a total of $ 8.8 million. Some 90 companies, from Belgium, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Russia, the UAE and the USA participated in the auction.

"Our auctions in the USA keep bringing in new clients, first of all companies from the US market, more than 20 participants were American companies. vThe assortment consisted of standard color rough diamonds, most of them were sold at a good premium to their opening price. We are happy with the operational dynamics of our US platform," noted Evgeny Agureev, member of the Executive Committee and director of the United Selling Organization Alrosa.

In 2018, Alrosa re-opened its New York representational office and appoint an executive director for North America. Alrosa will hold two more rough diamond auctions in the USA before the year end.
