RAPAPORT... Alrosa brought in $1.5 million from its firstpolished-diamond tender in New York since it reopened its office in the cityearlier this year. The Russian miner's cutting division, Diamonds Alrosa,sold 111 polished stones weighing from 2 to 6 carats, for a total of 309 carats,it said Thursday. The tender took place last month, attracting participantsfrom the US, Belgium, India and Israel. "We were pleased to see great interest from Americanbuyers, especially given the fact that this was our first tender in the USafter a long break," said Pavel Vinikhin, director of Diamonds Alrosa. "We alsosucceeded in attracting new clients, and by the end of this year, we hope tohold one more tender, where we will bring a more interesting assortment." Alrosa launched in New York in 2006.
