RAPAPORT... Alrosa has unearthed its largest yellow rough diamond thisyear, the miner said Monday. The 28.59-carat stone has a deep greenish-yellow hue, classifyingit as fancy intense yellow, the company said. "This stone is...unique, because nature seemed to haveprepared it for cutting, and, in advance, gave it a pear-like shape," saidEvgeny Agureev, director of Alrosa's United Selling Organization. Alrosa subsidiary Almazy Anabara discovered the stone at itsEbelyakh placer deposit in July. It has not yet decided if it will auction thestone in its rough form, or whether it will cut and polish it and sell it throughits colored-diamond division. Image: The 28.59-carat yellow diamond.
