ALUMINIUM BILLET WRAP: Non-existent demand keeps premiums flat

Aluminium billet premiums around the globe were unchanged on Thursday May 7 due to low liquidity and poor demand across all regions.

Demand for aluminium billet in Europe remained poor this week, with limited spot deals reported to Fastmarkets.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment of the aluminium 6063 extrusion billet premium, ddp North Germany (Ruhr region) was $240-260 per tonne on May 7, unchanged since April 9.
"Germany is quiet - a lot of people are swapping contracts to take less tonnage or asking to reduce volume. It is all about managing existing contracts at the moment," a trader said.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment of the aluminium 6063 extrusion billet premium, ddp Italy (Brescia region) was $240-260 per tonne on Thursday, also flat since April 9.
Billet premiums in Italy and Germany remain at their lowest since Fastmarkets began pricing them in 2012.
