ALUMINIUM BILLET WRAP: Premiums in Germany, Thailand at fresh highs; US premium slips

Aluminium billet premiums diverged on Friday June 4, with those in Germany and Thailand rising to all-time highs while those in Brazil and the United States slipped.

European billet premiums hit fresh all-time highs on June 4, with complicated logistics continuing to constrain supply amid solid demand.
"This week, we reported the first four-digit premium," a producer said. "We were hearing these numbers in the market, but until this week we haven't done anything above $1,000," a producer said.
Fastmarkets assessed the aluminium 6063 extrusion billet premium, ddp North Germany (Ruhr region) at $950-1,000 per tonne on Friday, up from $920-980 per tonne a week earlier.

"You have some resisting the high premiums - some of the big, well-known European producers are selling at $950 [per tonne]," a trader in Europe said. "The four-digit [premiums] are within reach, more likely on the spot market...
