Aluminium foundry alloy premiums in Europe and the United States fell due to a lack of demand, with most automakers suspending car production in both regions.

In Europe, Fastmarkets assessed the aluminium wheel alloy silicon 7 ingot premium, ddp Germany at $280-290 per tonne on Thursday April 9, down from $300-320 per tonne the month before.
Fastmarkets assessed the aluminium wheel alloy silicon 7 ingot premium, ddp Eastern Europe at $290-310 per tonne on Thursday, down from $330-350 per tonne in March.
Both premiums are at their lowest since Fastmarkets started tracking the markets. The drops were attributed to the closure of automotive plants throughout Europe. Most major European producers are likely to be shut until anywhere from mid-April to early May.
