RAPAPORT... Douglas Hucker has left his position as CEO of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) after 24 years.During his time with the organization, Hucker upped AGTA's focus on education and key issues such as treatment disclosure and the origin of gemstones, the AGTA said last week. He also formed affiliations with other industry groups, including the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO), the Women's Jewelry Association (WJA), the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and Jewelers of America (JA). "As more than two decades of service ends with Doug's departure, we know there will be stories recollected for years to come of his involvement in the colored-gemstone industry and all who have encountered him on personal and professional matters," said AGTA president Kimberly Collins. "He is a respected friend to many, and his leadership will be remembered as AGTA moves into the next phase of growth and development." The AGTA board of directors has not yet chosen a replacement for Hucker, who departed on March 2. Collins will serve as interim CEO until a new chief is found, the group added.Image: Douglas Hucker.
