Angola to hold First International Diamond Conference

(IDEX Online) - Angola is to host its first International Diamond Conference next month, in a bid to attract foreign interest and investment.The country is ranked sixth in the world for diamond production, but 60 per cent of its diamond-rich territory remains unexplored.It has only recently offered its stocks beyond eight "preferential customers" and is about to open its own bourse.The conference will be held from 25 to 27 November 2021, in Saurimo, capital of Lunda Sul province.Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, minister of mineral resources, petroleum and gas, says the conference is an opportunity companies and agents in the Angolan industry to forge new links.Mining ministers from the Africa's biggest diamond producing nations are expected to attend, alongside leaders of diamond companies and international experts.
