Annual zinc production at top five miners

The top five zinc miners are head and shoulders above the average miner.

The average zinc annual production in 2017 at all publicly-traded mines, including mines where zinc is a byproduct, was 79 kilotonnes while the top five averaged nearly five times the output at 373 Kt.

Total publicly-traded mines reporting zinc output in 2017 was 96.

Data is annual zinc production reported by publicly-traded companies, as well as some state-owned mines. Stock exchanges used are TSX, TSX-V, ASX, LSE, LSE-AIM, NYSE and JSE.

The top five mines for zinc production in 2017 were the following:

Vedanta's Rampura Agucha reporting 569 kilotonnesTeck's Red Dog reporting 542 kilotonnesGlencore and BHP Billiton's Antamina reporting 320 kilotonnesGlencore's Mt. Isa reporting 226 kilotonnesGlencore's Kazzinc reporting 210 kilotonnes
