ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih aims to start pelletizing plant in 2023

Ukraine-based integrated steelmaker ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (AMKR) plans to construct a pelletizing plant that is expected to start production by the end of 2023, its chief executive officer, Mauro Longobardo, said.

The plant will have the capacity to produce pellets at a rate of 5 million tonnes per year and will raise the Fe content in the mill's iron ore products to 68% from 65.3% currently, according to previous announcements.
"Nowadays we use only sinter. Three sinter shops [with around 13 million tpy of capacity] are in operation. The idea is to maintain one that is completely modernized and replace the other two with a new pellet plant.

"This will enable us to reduce coke consumption and shut two obsolete coke oven batteries. Thus, the ecological problem will be completely solved,"...
