ArcelorMittal, Votorantim merger to be concluded in April, CEO says

The merger between ArcelorMittal Brasil and local long steel producer Votorantim Siderurgia is expected to be concluded by April, ArcelorMittal Long Carbon Central & South Americas chief executive officer Jefferson de Paula told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday February 7.

The deal will make the combined venture the sector leader in Brazil and will enable it to expand its product portfolio, he added."The deal will make us the leader in the Brazilian long steel market, especially in [products for] construction," he said.The transaction, which will turn Votorantim Siderurgia into a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal Brasil, was approved by Brazilian competition regulator Cade earlier on Wednesday.ArcelorMittal has agreed with the regulator that it should sell some of its long steel assets to avoid...
