ASIA HRC: Regional prices down on ample supply

Hot-rolled coil prices in Asia were mostly down this week due to ample supply of prompt and September-shipment materials.

Fastmarkets' steel HRC import, cfr Vietnam assessment - which mainly looks at Chinese 2-3mm re-rolling-grade SAE1006 HRC and equivalent products sold into Vietnam - was $510-520 per tonne cfr for the week ending Monday July 29, down $5 per tonne from $515-525 per tonne a week earlier.Most of the transactions heard concluded were for prompt-shipment materials sold at $510-513 per tonne cfr Vietnam by traders, including cargoes from major Indian steel mills.Some of these are pipe-making grade materials and were not used for price assessment.Back-to-back offers were at $520-525 per tonne cfr Vietnam for Indian and Chinese cargoes.South Korean HRC...
