ASIA STEEL SCRAP DIGEST: Deep-sea market activity picks up momentum

Activity in the key Bangladesh and Vietnam deep-sea import scrap markets have increased in recent days, with mills in the countries increasingly interested in bulk shipments, sources told Fastmarkets on Thursday August 12.

Vietnam returned to the deep-sea import scrap market this week - Fastmarkets heard of one deal at $495 per tonne cfr Vietnam for bulk heavy melting scrap (HMS) 1&2 (80:20) cargo from the United States' West Coast.
The deal followed offers for bulk HMS 1&2 (80:20) heard at $500 per tonne cfr Vietnam this week, down from $503 per tonne cfr Vietnam in the previous week, while bids were at $490 per tonne cfr Vietnam.
