ASIA STEEL SCRAP DIGEST: Export offers from Japan remain high amid rising local prices

Tokyo Steel has increased its domestic scrap purchase prices for the fourth time in October, keeping Japan's export offers for steel scrap well supported, sources told Fastmarkets on Tuesday October 19.

Tokyo Steel, Japan's largest operator of electric-arc furnaces, announced another rise in its domestic scrap purchase prices by ?1,000-3,000 ($8.75-26.25) at all its works on Monday October 18. That was the fourth increase in October.

Effective October 19, Tokyo steel will pay ?56,000 per tonne for H2 scrap delivered to Tahara works, ?55,000 per tonne at Okayama works and ?56,000 per tonne at Kyushu works. It will also pay ?54,000 per tonne at Utsunomiya works and ?52,000 per tonne...
