ASIA STEEL SCRAP DIGEST: Strong sell-side sentiment forces up key markets

Rising bid prices in the key steel-scrap import markets of South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam have coincided with another increase in Japan's domestic prices, market sources said on Tuesday October 5.

A further strengthening in local Japanese scrap prices has led to exporters again raising offer prices this week, sources said.
Major Japanese electric-arc furnace operator Tokyo Steel increased its domestic scrap purchase prices by another ?1,000-2,000 ($9.01-18.01) per tonne, depending on works, effective October 10. That follows a similar price increase effective from Saturday October 2.
