Asian slab import prices rebound on higher offers

Import prices for steel slab in Southeast Asia and East Asia increased over the past week amid higher offers after a month-long price decline, although trading activity was sparse due to the wide bid-offer spread.

Fastmarkets MB's weekly import price assessment for slab in Southeast Asia and East Asia was $430-445 per tonne cfr on Monday February 4, up $15-20 per tonne from a week earlier.One deal involving March-shipment slab from a Southeast Asian mill was reportedly concluded within $440-445 per tonne cfr to Thailand late last week.Market sources estimated that the workable price range in Southeast Asia and East Asia stood...
