Asian slab import prices slip amid declining HRC market

Import prices for steel slab in Southeast Asia and East Asia dipped over the past week, with buyers uninterested in procuring any material due to falling demand in the downstream hot-rolled coil market.

Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel slab imports, cfr Southeast Asia and East Asia was $330-345 per tonne on Monday April 13, narrowing downward by $5 per tonne from $330-350 per tonne a week earlier.
During the week, slab produced in the Commonwealth of Independent States was available at $350-355 per tonne cfr Southeast Asia and East Asia.
