The royalty agreement was signed in July 2012 with Rumbo, who formerly owned the land used by Proyecto Riotinto in Andalucía, Spain, entitling it to a royalty payment of up to $250,000 per quarter if the average copper sales price or LME price for the period was equal to or above $2.60 per pound ($5,732 per tonne) for ten years up to a maximum amount of $10 million.
