(IDEX Online) - India's mothballed diamond mine at Majhgawan-Panna is due to resume production this July, with a forecast output of up to 84,000 carats a year.Work was halted at the country's only industrial mine at the end of December 2020 when environmental clearances lapsed following concerns from the nearby Panna Tiger Reserve.But the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), India's biggest iron ore merchant miner, plans to resume work there, according to the news website businessline.Mining at the Majhgawan mine (pictured), near the town of Panna, in Madhya Pradesh, has been stopped several times over the last 50 years because of concerns by the National Wildlife Board.The mines, in the central state of Madhya Pradesh produced 13,681 carats in FY2021.
