BlueRock Achieves Higher Price per Carat, Despite Pandemic

(IDEX Online) - BlueRock Diamonds raised over $1.25m in a private sale of rough from its Kareevlei mine, in South Africa.The British miner says the price it achieved - an average of $330 per carat for 3,805 carats - was higher than the $290 it achieved in a similar sale in June of this year, despite the ongoing pandemic.Executive chairman Mike Houston said: "Our diamonds remain attractive to buyers even in what continues to be an uncertain market. Similar to the sale announced in June 2020, this was a private sale conducted through a sales agent in South Africa. "We are pleased with the price achieved which is above our internal budget and a 14 per cent increase over the price achieved in June 2020."BlueRock also reported significant improvements in the ore processed from the Main Pit at Kareevlei, with an average grade of 5.1 cpht.Pic courtesy BlueRock
