RAPAPORT... Bonhams has appointed Brett O'Connor as senior internationaljewelry director and senior vice president of its US operations, the auction house saidTuesday. O'Connor makes the move after 16 years at Sotheby's Geneva,where he was one of the lead auctioneers for the company's major jewelry salesin Geneva, Hong Kong, London and New York. He was also responsible for globalsourcing of jewelry, and for working with and advising top clients on theircollections. "[O'Connor] has an excellent track record and is extremelywell-regarded within the industry," said Bonhams global head of jewelry JeanGhika. "I am particularly looking forward to working with him to further buildour presence in the US and Asia, which are some of the most important andfastest-growing markets for jewelry." A 24-year auction-house veteran, O'Connor also worked forChristie's and Phillips. He will begin his new position in November, and willbe based in New York.
