Brazil's alumina exports up 58.6% in December; 16.2% higher in 2020

Alumina exports from Brazil continued to grow in December, contributing to higher volumes in full-year 2020, while Alunorte, the world's largest refinery, recovered its capacity usage throughout the year, data from the country's economy ministry showed on Thursday January 7.

Brazilian alumina exports totaled 864,533 tonnes in December, up by 58.6% from 545,095 tonnes in the corresponding period of 2019.
Shipments from the Bel?(C)m port in the northern state of Par?? reached 447,329 tonnes in December, a 90.8% year-on-year increase from 234,399 tonnes, while volumes from the S??o Lu?-s port in northeastern Maranh??o were 414,378 tonnes, up by 34.3% year on year from 308,585 tonnes.
