Brazil's auto output up 9.6% in October despite fewer exports, mild domestic growth

Automotive production in Brazil increased by 9.6% year on year in October despite persistently weak exports and only a mild growth rate in new registrations, car manufacturers' association Anfavea said on Wednesday November 6.

Production reached 288,512 units last month compared with 263,186 units in the corresponding period last year, which had been the highest monthly figure since August 2018. Increased light-vehicle output was the main driver, rising by 9.8% to 274,583 units from 250,018 units in the same comparison.Registrations of locally produced vehicles totaled 228,183 units in October, up by 1.1% year on year from 225,700 units.
