Brazil's Samarco on track to resume ops by year end, company says

Brazilian iron ore pellet producer Samarco is on schedule to resume operations by the end of 2020 despite health and safety measures taken to prevent Covid-19 from spreading among workers, the company told Fastmarkets on Wednesday July 1.

Samarco was expected to restart production in December 2020, Vale's chief financial officer Luciano Siani said on April 29. Hot commissioning was scheduled to begin in July-August, with commercial output resuming in December.
"The resuming of operations is still estimated for year end and will happen following the new filtering system is implemented," Samarco said on Wednesday.
