Brazilian aluminium billet demand to remain stable in 2022: CBA

Brazilian aluminium maker Companhia Brasileira de Alum?-nio (CBA) expects demand for extrusion billet, its most important primary product, to remain steady - at least - during 2022, after significant growth was reported in 2021, head of primary aluminium division Alexandre Vianna said on Friday November 19.

A surge in the country's billet consumption came alongside heated construction market, which showed 15-16% annual growth in 2021, Vianna said. CBA increased its share of that market by growing at a faster pace, he added.
"We increased sales by 107% [year on year], while the overall market was up by around 25%," Vianna said during CBA Day, a presentation to investors and analysts. "For 2022, we are expecting demand to at least be maintained at this year's levels, with a potential upside to it."
