Brazilian car output down 58% in June on slow reopening, Anfavea says

Brazilian vehicle manufacturers' association Anfavea recorded a 57.5% year-on-year decrease in production during June 2020, with plants still reopening from temporary idle periods while they readjusted to the fall in demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it said on Monday July 6.

Output totaled 98,708 units in June, down from 233,150 units a year before. But it was up by 129% from 43,080 units produced in May 2020, Anfavea data showed.
Including the figures for June, Brazil produced 729,527 units in the first half of this year, down by 50.5% from 1.47 million units in the corresponding period of 2019.

"We are seeing [a cut in production equivalent to] almost one whole quarter... this year [due to Covid-19]," Anfavea president Luiz Carlos Moraes said in a press conference...
