Brazilian domestic flat, long steel prices steady; buyers expect increase in July

Domestic flat and long steel prices remained unchanged in Brazil in early June while demand remained stagnant, but mills were already planning increases for July.

Prices held steady, maintaining their highest levels in at least one year in the case of flat-rolled products while no discounts were being offered despite tumbling demand. The long steel sector had some discount reports, although prices were close to their 2020 highs.
Producers of both types of steel raised prices in January, with an additional rise announced in March for flat steel ahead of a demand recovery that was expected for 2020.
