Brazilian domestic flat steel prices rise in June; producers mull new increase for July

Brazilian domestic flat steel prices increased in June and local steelmakers have announced another round of price rises for July.

Brazilian flat steel producers successfully applied price increases for all their products, mainly because of low competition from imported material and higher costs.
Fastmarkets' monthly price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil, domestic, monthly, exw Brazil was at 7,300-7,775 Reais ($1,427-1,520) per tonne on Friday June 11, up by 6-9% from 6,910-7,115 Reais per tonne on May 14.
