Brazilian flat steel producers raise prices but demand weakens

Brazilian flat steel makers applied a new round of price increases in the first week of April, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Sellers have been announcing increases of 5-12% in the first two weeks of the month, market sources said.
Fastmarkets' monthly price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil, domestic, monthly, exw Brazil, reached 6,133-6,224 Reais ($1,079-1,095) per tonne on Friday April 9, up by 5-6% from 5,848-5,858 Reais per tonne a month earlier.
Fastmarkets' Brazilian domestic flat steel prices are assessed with taxes not included.
