Brazilian slab prices stable amid reviving US demand

Brazilian slab export price remained stable this week, with information of the first fresh deals to the United States at higher levels circulating later in the week.

Fastmarkets' weekly assessment of steel slab export, fob main port Brazil, remained at $425-435 per tonne fob on Friday August 30, unchanged from the previous week.Price offers started at $430 per tonne fob, but were said to be negotiable. Some believed deals could occur even below $425 per tonne fob, but no such booking was made, and rebounding demand from the United States made sellers more optimistic.At least one deal was closed within this week's assessment range for October shipment to the US West...
