Sales volumes from Brazilian flat steel distributors rose by 33.5% in August 2020 compared with the corresponding month in 2019, with lower availability from mills leading customers to seek more material from the distribution sector, national distributors' association Inda said on Tuesday September 22.
Distributors sold 373,800 tonnes in August, up from 279,900 tonnes a year before. Volumes were also higher by 8.7% when compared with 344,000 tonnes reported in July 2020.Meanwhile, purchases from distributors totaled 308,600 tonnes last month, a 10.3% year-on-year increase from 279,700 tonnes. On the other hand, purchases were down by 2.6% from 316,700 tonnes in July.
