Brazilian vehicle output down 11% in September, Anfavea says

Brazilian vehicle production fell by 11% in September 2020 compared with the corresponding month a year before, with producers increasing supply from April lows at a slow pace in order to prevent inventories from rising too much, carmakers' association Anfavea said on Wednesday October 7.

The country made 220,162 vehicles last month, down from 247,455 units reported in September 2019. But output was up by 4.4% from 210,860 units in August this year.
"These were the lowest September figures since 2016," Anfavea president Luiz Moraes said in a press conference on Wednesday. "The industry is slowly recovering from stoppages caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in March and April, and also being cautious to not let stocks rise too much."

Inventories at manufacturers and dealerships totaled 141,700 units in September, 1.1% higher than 140,200 units a month before. Stocks were...
