British Steel proposes 400 job cuts as part of 'streamlining process'

UK long product steelmaker British Steel has proposed the elimination of 400 jobs as part of "a streamlining process to ensure the long-term growth of the business," the company said on Friday September 14.

The proposed reduction would affect 400 managerial, professional and administrative roles at its operations throughout the UK, Ireland, France and The Netherlands.The majority of the roles to be cut are expected to be in administrative jobs but the locations of the losses have yet to be specified, Metal Bulletin understands.No plant closures are being considered as part of the process, British Steel said.The steelmaker is also not considering any asset sales as a part of the streamlining process, a spokesman told...
