Coordinated central banking has played an important role in geopolitics, said Vince Lanci, founder of Echobay Partners.
On gold, short term fluctuations are less important than gold's long-term role as a wealth preserver, Lanci said.
"I don't care about the price of gold. I view gold as a wealth preserver. I would love it to go to $1,800 [an ounce] tomorrow, but that's not its purpose," Lanci told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Mines & Money New York conference.
"Gold, you own it for 20 years, or you trade it for three months," he added.
